If you're a Zune owner, you probably discovered that you can't watch dvds on your Zune, well, that's what they want you to believe at least. It is possible, but for some reason they don't provide you with software to do it. Likely they want you to buy movies from them that will play on your Zune. Who wants to do that, especially if you already own the DVD?
If you're not sure what a "Zune" is, it's an mp4/media player developed by Microsoft to compete with the Apple iPod. It can store and play videos (MPEG-4, WMV, H.264), music (MP3, WMA, AAC), and photos (JPEG). It also comes with an FM tuner installed, which means you can listen to FM radio without having to purchase any additional accessories. This is the main reason why I chose the Zune over the iPod. There is also a wireless Wi -Fi function that allows you to share data between players.
For some reason though, Microsoft (Apple neither) didn't include software that would allow you to watch the Dvds you already own. That means you have to go out and pay a service that delivers movies in a format recognized by the Zune. Not a bad idea, unless you already own the DVD of the movie you want to watch. Thankfully, others stepped up and delivered a solution.
